Group Members Ellen Cahill and Dr. Eoin O’Cearbhaill have published a review paper in the journal Bioconjugate Chemistry titled ‘Toward Biofunctional Microneedles for Stimulus Responsive Drug Delivery’. In the paper, Cahill and O’Cearbhaill review existing microneedle technology and share their perspective on the future development of microneedle devices. The paper reviews microneedles for biosignal sensing as well as their use as drug and therapeutic delivery devices. It further discusses the potential convergence of these two platforms towards biofuncational stimulus-responsive microneedle patches.
Ellen Cahill is currently in the first year of her PhD under the supervision of Dr. Eoin O’Cearbahill.
