Ellen Cahill

Ellen CahillI started my PhD under the supervision of Dr. O’Cearbhaill in September 2014. My research focuses on design and manufacturing of microneedles for use in delivery and continuous monitoring devices. The project is in collaboration with Professor Hsueh-Chia Chang at the University of Notre Dame and is funded by the Naughton Foundation.
I obtained my BSc (Engineering) and ME (Biomedical) from UCD. My master’s project looked at manufacturing and biocompatibility of bulk metallic glass microneedles. During my masters I spent 8 months interning with Unilife (Philadelphia, PA) working on the auto-injector design team. My design work went on to form part of a patent.
Besides research I like to spend my time enjoying Dublin life and sailing, competing at home and further afield when I can.
