John Coleman

John ColemanJohn is a Mechanical Engineering graduate from UCD, where he developed an interest in medical device design and materials science. He went on to obtain an MSc in Bioengineering in 2015. The topic of his Masters thesis was the fabrication of miniaturised drug delivery systems such as microneedles, particularly using polymeric materials by drawing techniques. This work was carried out in conjunction with UCD Charles Institute of Dermatology.

John is currently working as a research engineer for NovaUCD-based startup, THEYA, providing scientific & engineering insight. This work is partially funded by the Enterprise Ireland Innovation Voucher, a scheme designed to seed collaboration between universities and startups.

Besides engineering, John is a keen musician, playing piano with bands and teaching around Dublin. He also enjoys football and rugby.
